-----------------------------------------------
I. Harvard Model United Nations: Feb 14-Feb 17 1. Position defenses recap At
this past meeting many hnmun delegates delivered exceptional position defenses.
It was a great opportunity to build awareness of what topics each committe was
convering.
2. Departure Info
We will be departing from the College Union Circle (at the bottom of the Union
outside the Mailroom area and where the LATS bus stop is). Please be there
promptly at 7:15 on Thurs Feb 14th. If you missed the last MUN meeting and are a
Harvard delegate, please email mun@geneseo.edu with your Name, cell number, and
dorm address (ie. Wyoming B2D1). We need the information to try to find you in
the event that you aren't there at 7:15 on Thurs.
3. All-delegation meeting *canceled*
Based on club consensus at the last meeting, we will not be having the Wednesday
all-delegation hnmun meeting. All people with outstanding questions are
encouraged to visit the mun officer office hours. Also, if you wish to meet
Professor Grace (our adviser for this conference), please stop by his office (Welles
3F office hr Weds: 10:30-12:30) to introduce yourself. Thanks!
4. Misc. conference info
a. Pack extremely lightly please. Each of the cars will be filled to capacity
since we're taking 20 people instead of 16. One small suitcase & a garment bag
should be sufficient. Thanks in advance for making it ever so slightly easier to
stuff bags into the trunk.
b. Western business attire is the dress code for the conference. For men this
generally includes business suits with ties, slacks + sports jacket & button
down shirts, or just slacks and button down shirt + tie (though the last option
tends to be a little underdressed). For women, basically just dress nice, it is
the norm for women to wear suits but they can get away with doing skirt +
blouse, slacks + blouse, etc. The major taboo articles of clothing are jeans (or
denim in any form) and sneakers. Please email mun@geneseo.edu with any requests
for fashion advice, lol.
c. The Sheraton (the hotel w/ the conference) was booked up before we were able
to secure our rooms (in part due to an atypical amount of bureaucracy in booking
rooms at this particular hotel.) The MUN eboard apologizes for the
inconvenience. However, we have found a suitable alternative within
2-3 minutes walking distance from the Sheraton. We'll be staying in the Radisson
with 5 people per room in order to keep within budget constraints. Each room
will have a cot, so there will be adequate sleeping arrangements for everyone.

questions.
---announcements from the conference----
f. Opening Ceremonies will take place in the Imperial and Plaza Ballrooms of the
Boston Park Plaza at 5 pm. We are incredibly excited to welcome Professor
Samantha Power as our keynote. For Professor Power's biography, please consult
http://ksgfaculty.harvard.edu/samantha_power. Seating is available on a
first-come, first-served basis and the doors will open at 4.30 pm.
g.Weather and Attire Winter in Boston is quite chilly and the city is
experiencing a cold spell right now--the wind chill is 8 degrees Fahrenheit
(approximately -11 Celsius)! We, hence, encourage delegations to pack warmly and
ensure that they bring coats, shoes and other gear for inclement weather. The
conference will take place as planned rain or shine, but we want to ensure the
comfort of all our participants.
h. Tours of Harvard and Boston: Delegates will be able to buy tickets to the
tours of Boston and Harvard at registration. Tickets will also be available at
the Business booths on Thursday 14 February. Tours will take place between
9.30-11 am. on Friday 15 February. The Harvard tours are student-led, while the
Boston tours have been contracted to a professional tourguiding company.
II. Chicago MUN: March 6-9

We will be doing our officer elections on February 28th at 7pm in South 338.
Please see the MUN Constitution (attached) to get a sense of position duties and

eligibility will be based on the honor system. Also, the club can discuss how to
interpret the voting rights of new spring semester members at our next meeting
(it is somewhat ambiguous). We welcome constitutional amendments at any
meeting.... especially ones delineating MUN seniority (# of conferences, class
year, awards won, age).
