Women of Perry, Portraits From Life

1994 - 1995

THE WOMEN OF PERRY, PORTRAITS FROM LIFE project was a series of portraits - all participants community members in the Village of Perry, New York - funded by two generous New York State Arts Council grants in 1993-95.

The inaugural presentation of the eight nearly life-size oil paintings with accompanying drawings, writings and documentary photographs opened at the Wyoming County Arts Council in Perry, NY 1994; subsequently travelling to the Adams Art Gallery, Dunkirk, NY; the American Association of University Women, Rochester,New York; and the Finger Lakes Community College, Canandaigua, New York; before being included in my 2001 solo exhibition at the Helen Day Art Center (now the Current) in Stowe, Vermont.

Each painting began with a graphite study from life. View drawings here
