2012 SUNY Geneseo Women's LacrosseThe SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team has been an intercollegiate sport since the spring of 1996. Head coach Carly Ritchlin is a 2001 graduate of SUNY Cortland and has a record of 97-44 after nine seasons. The program was started by Sue Behme and has compiled a record of 156-90 in its 17 seasons.
In 2012, Geneseo posted a record of 9-6 in 2012 for ninth year coach Carly Ritchlin. Geneseo finished with a SUNYAC fifth-place record of 4-4 and failed to qualify for the SUNYAC tournament for just the second time in the 14 years of the tournament. Sophomore attack Caroline Buonocore paced the Geneseo attack with 48 goals and 18 assists for 66 points on her way to first team All-SUNYAC honors, while senior defender Johanna Trupp earned first team All-SUNYAC after leading the team with 35 groundballs and 13 caused turnovers. Sophomore midfielder Emily Haggerty matched Buonocore's point total of 66 on 43 goals and a team-high 23 assists with a team-leading 65 draw controls to earn second team All-SUNYAC recognition. Junior midfielder Rachel Petrone and first year attack Katey Hart each collected 37 goals, with the former adding 12 assists for 49 points with 33 draw controls and the latter dishing seven helpers for 44 points with 30 draws. Junior Lea Paris added 36 points on 24 goals and 12 assists and sophomore Meredith Weber contributed 15 goals and four assists in her first campaign in a starting role. Sophomore Bridget McGovern scooped 20 groundballs with 13 caused turnovers and junior Jenna Theofield supported the defense with 19 groundballs and nine caused turnovers. Junior Julie Bernatzky played 884 of 906 minutes in goal, posting a 11.87 goals against with a .465 save percentage.
