Organization Directory

Welcome to the Student Organization Directory!

With more than 180 student clubs and organizations, there truly is something for everyone at SUNY Geneseo.

A college-registered Student Organization is any student-driven group whose primary membership and entire leadership consists of students enrolled at SUNY Geneseo; is formed in order to contribute to the students' personal development and the advancement of the College Mission; is non-credit bearing; and is officially registered with the Department of Student Life.

Full registration does not imply college endorsement of the positions and views of any organization. Rather, it implies that the institution accepts the organization’s mission as educationally valid and that the organization has complied with institutional registration and continuing registration procedures.

Full registration with the College does not permit the organization to act in the name of the university, to represent the university, engage in any contractual obligation in the name of the university, nor represent the organization as being an official part of the university.

Most recently the Geneseo Cheerleading Team has competed as small advanced co-ed, however in the past we have competed all girl level 6. Mandatory practices are held two to three times a week throughout the season, along with attending games both semesters and competitions during the spring semester. The titles that the SUNY Geneseo Cheerleading Team has held include: 1st Place Epic Tour at Albany in 2019, 1st Place and Grand Champions of Platinum Nationals in 2019, and numerous first place victories in prior years. This team prides itself on a tradition of team unity and presents a competitive, successful squad year after year. Thanks for your interest in our team and we hope to see you at our social events, information meeting, and tryouts in the Fall.

Knightline Dance Team

Knightline is the official dance team at SUNY Geneseo. We perform fast paced routines that incorporate a kickline at Men's and Women's home basketball, hockey, and soccer games. We also perform at various events on campus such as Relay for Life. We are well networked with other campus organizations and are a close knit group that have formed an unbreakable bond. Routines are choreographed by the team captains and the team is advised by Jody DeLoria, an adjunct professor in the dance department. We hold auditions every fall semester.

Orchesis Dance

We allow anyone of any level to be a dancer or choreograph any family friendly piece they would like, then perform it in our shows that we hold once each semester! We do monthly check ins, provide rehearsal space options, and organize dancers into their choice dances.

Sapphire Winterguard at Geneseo

The purpose of this organization is to provide an environment where students can learn flag spinning, rifle spinning, and basic dance techniques, no matter their level of experience. The ultimate goal of the organization is to represent Geneseo in competition in the North East Color Guard Circuit. The organization will also be available for special performance at sporting events and other campus activities to show school spirit and support.

Musical Theater Club

Musical Theatre Club, or “MTC,” is a student-run organization within SUNY Geneseo whose purpose is to develop and expand the knowledge of musical theatre skills in production, including performance, direction, staging, choreography, musicality, and the technical theatre aspects of costume, set, and lighting design to aid in the general cultural development and enrichment of the campus community. In order to achieve this, MTC offers a musical revue each semester, consisting of a variety of musical theatre pieces and skits that feature the different strengths of our members to produce a well-rounded theatre experience. Auditions for MTC’s performing ensemble are held at the beginning of each semester, with a typical turnout ranging anywhere from 20 to 40 hopefully. Typically, the ensemble itself will range anywhere from 40 to 50 members at any given semester. In addition to the performing ensemble, members of the club help with costume design, light and soundboard operation, spotlight operation, stage management, musical accompaniment, and other aspects of production.

Gajjda Bhangra

We are a co-ed dance team who dances competitively all around Geneseo campus, as well as other off campus events. This style of dance originated in the punjab region of India, and has been danced competitively. It is a high energy and joyful form of dance.

Shakti: South Asian Student Organization

We want to spread South Asian culture to the students at SUNY Geneseo, and make them more aware of the countries, culture, customs, problems, and people of South Asia. At our weekly General Meetings we talk about festivals, diversity, political events, games, and such that take place in the countries of South Asia. Our members consist not only of students from South Asian countries, but also students who want to know more about the region, and want to be involved in our events. Our biggest events of the year include the Diwali Dinner that celebrates the Hindu festival of Diwali, ACE's Intercultural Dinner, and our dinner and show, Sangamam. At Sangamam, we celebrate South Asian culture through a traditional dinner and—staying true to Bollywood—a skit that includes many dance performances. Sangamam is a wonderful evening of color, music, dance, and festivities. Shakti is part of the SUNY Geneseo Alliance for Community Enrichment (ACE) and is funded by the Student Association (SA). Shakti welcomes all new members and ideas! Shakti on three! One ... two ... three ... Shakti!

Pre-Veterinary Club

As a student on the pre-veterinary medicine track, this club will help you prepare for the veterinary school application process. This club contains members of all years, and eboard positions are available after your first semester on the club. Our meetings focus on informing members of the application process and coaching them to be comfortable with it, as well as being taught small, large, and exotic animal case studies and animal behavior by veterinarians and animal workers. As a club we also try to host a few different events throughout the semester such as equine clinics, dairy farm tours, sanitation talks, and pet-palooza.

Slainte Irish Dance

We are a student run organization that is dedicated to bringing the Irish culture to campus through dance performances. All of our pieces are choreographed by student leaders. Since we are completely student run we do require some prior experience in Irish Step Dancing to join. We practice once or twice a week for about an hour. We perform on campus for various events.

The Pep Band

Pep Band exists to create, encourage, and facilitate positive energy during hockey games.
