Organization Directory

Welcome to the Student Organization Directory!

With more than 180 student clubs and organizations, there truly is something for everyone at SUNY Geneseo.

A college-registered Student Organization is any student-driven group whose primary membership and entire leadership consists of students enrolled at SUNY Geneseo; is formed in order to contribute to the students' personal development and the advancement of the College Mission; is non-credit bearing; and is officially registered with the Department of Student Life.

Full registration does not imply college endorsement of the positions and views of any organization. Rather, it implies that the institution accepts the organization’s mission as educationally valid and that the organization has complied with institutional registration and continuing registration procedures.

Full registration with the College does not permit the organization to act in the name of the university, to represent the university, engage in any contractual obligation in the name of the university, nor represent the organization as being an official part of the university.

Anthropological Association

The purpose of this club is to create a space for individuals interested in the field of anthropology to connect with other students through meetings and group events.

Sigma Tau Psi

The mechanical essence of the fraternal organization is that each member contributes to the brotherhood and in turn derives certain benefits. These benefits are dependent upon the character of the contributor and the nature of the contribution. It is the fraternity's hope that each member will be those who excel in various aspects of campus life. In this way the campus, the fraternity, and the brotherhood will all benefit significantly.

Alpha Kappa Phi

Alpha Kappa Phi, also known as the Agonian sorority, is an organized group of young women who strive to positively impact our current and past members, and our surrounding community in Geneseo, New York. Established in 1885, Alpha Kappa Phi has a rich history of creating unbreakable sisterhood and lasting relationships between our members, and we seek to continue that growing bond with every new pledge class. The members of this organization are kind, intelligent, resilient, and hardworking young women that use their positive attributes to uplift themselves and each other; as well as create a positive environment every member is proud to be a part of. One of our organization's mottos is "strive to lead," which we hold near to our hearts as we use our time and resources to create fulfilling experiences for our members as well as give back to the Geneseo community we love to call home.

Hillel

Hillel at Geneseo is a place where Jewish students can find their home away from home. Hillel is committed to providing a pluralistic, egalitarian, and inclusive community for Jewish college students, where they are encouraged to grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially. We have weekly Shabbat services and dinner in addition to other religious, social, and educational events.

Peace Action

Peace Action Geneseo is a non-partisan student group dedicated to empowering student advocates to take action on issues of peace and justice. Through education, grassroots organizing, and action campaigns, we work to promote informed student activism on campus and build leadership among young people in the peace movement. We host events related to peaceful resolution of conflict, environmentalism, nuclear proliferation, and more. Out goals are to: TRAIN students to be effective social advocates and grassroots organizers. EDUCATE young people on peace and justice issues, while keeping students informed on recent peace-related news and events. EMPOWER students to campaign for action and policies that will help our communities and our world become a safer, more peaceful place. CONNECT students to a larger community of young and professional activists who share a similar interest for peace and conflict resolution.

Partners in Health Engage at SUNY Geneseo

PIH Engage at SUNY Geneseo is a chapter of the parent organization, Partners in Health. We work with our parent organization closely and are provided with the necessary resources and tools. We approach healthcare from an advocacy perspective, fundraising, and through community building and education. We advocate for increased funding for specific global and domestic policies that promote health as a human right (e.g., USAID’s bilateral tuberculosis account and The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria). At SUNY Geneseo, we will hold bi-weekly meetings to work together as a team, have seminars on important issues regarding health and healthcare, and have fundraising events throughout the school year.

International Youth and Students for Social Equality

Young people, including students, face a dangerous future. The fraudulent economic "recovery" is worsening for the vast majority of the population. Imperialist war, even a nuclear World War III, looms around the corner. Climate change threatens the entire planet. These threats and others demonstrate that capitalism is a system in crisis, incapable of creating a decent future for youth, students, and workers everywhere. The SUNY Geneseo chapter of the International Youth and Students for Social Equality seeks to mobilize students and young workers in the struggle for the only viable alternative to capitalism: socialism. The IYSSE is dedicated to the defense of democratic rights, opposition to war, and the arming of students, youth, and workers with a socialist perspective. To do so, we hold weekly meetings to engage students and workers and orient members toward the working class. All interested people are welcome to attend meetings, regardless of major or enrollment status.

Mock Trial at Geneseo

Mock Trial is a competitive Advocacy Club. Each year, we build two teams who compete against other colleges and travel to universities around the US with a fictional civil or criminal court case. As a club, we hone our public speaking and acting skills and emphasize learning legal theory, case law, and rules of evidence. Members of our club come from a range of majors, and our activities provide an excellent building block towards a law school education, but many of our members intend to pursue alternate careers.

Geneseo Club Cheerleading

Most recently the Geneseo Cheerleading Team has competed as small advanced all girl, however in the past we have competed small advanced co-ed,. Mandatory practices are held two to three times a week throughout the season, along with attending games both semesters and competitions during the spring semester. The titles that the SUNY Geneseo Cheerleading Team has held include: 1st Place Epic Tour at Albany in 2019, 1st Place and Grand Champions of Platinum Nationals in 2019, and numerous first place victories in prior years.
