Communication |
Communication majors choose from among 40 course offerings in the department, including organizational communication, interpersonal communication, group dynamics, writing for the print and broadcast media, mass media and society, public relations, advertising, public address, desktop publishing and broadcast production to name a few. Majors also select from two tracks of study in Interpersonal/ Organizational Communication and Journalism/Media Studies. The Department is committed to the belief that the best undergraduate preparation in communication is achieved by exposing students to the rich history and diversity of communication theory. Even though communication ranks among the largest academic programs on campus, classes are small in size. Through course work and advisement, faculty mentor students to help sharpen students' professional and research skills. Department or campus facilities include a technology enhanced classroom in the Blake B building, video editing software and desktop publishing capabilities as well as Kodak DC215z digital cameras. Other facilities available to majors include three video editing suites (one linear, two digital), the Newton production studio, and WGSU-FM, an FCC licensed radio station, and the Lamron, the student newspaper. Many students also participate at GSTV, the campus cable-television station. |
