Political Candidates Scheduled for Oct. 1 Forum at SUNY Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. – Candidates from the area running for state office will take part in a forum Oct. 1 at SUNY Geneseo to give voters in their districts a better idea of the issues and their positions in advance of the November 4 election.  The college is sponsoring the forum, scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. in the MacVittie Union Ballroom.

Participating in the forum will be:

• All four Supreme Court candidates running for two seats in the 7^th Judicial District:  Elma Bellini; Robert Lunn;  Paul Riordan; and Joanne Winslow.
• Both candidates running for the 147^th State Assembly District:  Dan Burling and Phil Jones
• Both candidates running for the 59^th State Senate District:  Kathy Konst and Dale Volker
• One candidate running for the 57^th State Senate District:  Christopher Schaffer
• One candidate running for the 26^th U.S. Congressional District seat:   Alice Kryzan

Marilyn Klotz, a faculty member in Geneseo’s Department of Political Science and International Relations, will moderate the forum.  The event will not employ a debate format but candidates will make opening statements and audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions submitted to the moderator.
