SUNY Geneseo received the 2024 Highly Established Action Plan Seal from ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. The recognition is awarded to campuses that lead the way with innovative strategies to increase nonpartisan democratic engagement on their campuses.

SUNY Geneseo is one of 93 campuses that have earned the seal in the 2024 election cycle. Advancing democratic values and civic responsibility is at the core of the SUNY Geneseo mission. Here are some statistics about Geneseo students' civic engagement:

  • According to 2024 county-level data, nearly 500 Geneseo students are registered to vote in Livingston County and vote at our new, on-campus poll site in the College Union Ballroom.

  • According to the most recent NSLVE report for SUNY Geneseo (October 2021), the student voting rate at the college was 68.2%, compared to a national average of 66%.

  • In 2021, the voter registration and voter education efforts resulted in increased numbers and percentages across all three sets of data: registration rates, voting rates of registered students, and voting rates for all enrolled students.

  • Despite a dip in enrollment in 2020 due to COVID, SUNY Geneseo increased its voter registration rate from 80% to 88% with 4,185 registered voters (4817 total students) compared to 4263 (5,452 total students) in 2016.

The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge is a nonpartisan, national initiative recognizing and supporting campuses as they work to increase nonpartisan democratic engagement and full student voter participation. ALL IN does not support or oppose candidates for public office or take a stand for or against any political party. They encourage active and informed participation in American democracy.
