Geneseo Habitat 'roughs it' in self-made cardboard shacks

STURGES QUAD--In order to raise money for next year's building and supplies, several members of Geneseo Habitat spent a night in cardboard shacks. Between 6pm on Friday night and 9am Saturday morning, Geneseo Habitat and others built shacks, enjoyed a deliciious potluck dinner, tie-dyed, listened to cool music, and ate a hearty breakfast (while having a whole lot of fun). However, Shack-a-thon was not all about fun. These shacks symbolized the poverty that many people face on a daily basis. Without homes, many people are exposed everyday to the elements and don't get to experience the comforts that some of us take for granted. Let us remember how lucky we are and do all we can to get people out of their shacks and into good homes.
