Employment Opportunities in the College Union
The following employment opportunities exist in the College Union. Positions are generally funded through the College Work - Study Program. Temporary Service funds may also be used if more students are needed. Please come to College Union Room 303 or call 5851 to see if any Temp Service positions are available.
Manager Assistants/Office Assistants
MAs/Office Assistants assure that rooms are open for use by those who have reserved them, assist with some A / V equipment, make sure public areas of the building are neat. MAs provide information for people in the building and make periodic rounds for security and communication purposes with other CUEs. These CUEs are responsible for assisting customers, office tasks and being knowledgeable regarding the services that the College Union & Activities department offers. Employees will be scheduled for work during building hours.
Corner Pocket CUE
The Corner Pocket recreation area is open each day, so approximately 13-14 students work in this area. Corner Pocket CUEs are responsible for signing out equipment, and general maintenance of the recreation area. CUEs must be knowledgeable of programs and tournaments offered, and responsible for the operation of the sound system. Employees should expect to work a combination of days, evenings and weekends. Weekend work shifts are rotated so students do not work each weekend.
Concierge Desk CUE
The Concierge Desk is opened every day when staffing is available. The CUE on duty is responsible for receptionist duty for the College Union & Activities Department, sign out of laptops, bike loans, student organization key sign out, Painted Wall and Black Sandwich Board equipment as well as SA Sports Equipment, directions to areas inside the Union, and information regarding student events and activities taking place in the Union.
Union Managers
The College Union & Activities department employs seven Union Managers. Managers are the liaison between the CUEs and Professional staff. They are students responsible for weekend and evening supervision of the College Union. They assist in employee orientation, training and scheduling of those CUEs working in the Corner Pocket,Office, and as Manager Assistants. In addition they assist with employee programs and general building operations.
Financial Assistant
Is the student employee who is responsible for the accounting of usage from the Corner Pocket.
Knight Spot Managers
These student managers supervise the dance club facility on Friday and as needed on Saturday nights. They act as a resource for dance club patrons and liaison between the DJs and the professional staff. They must be familiar with the sound and lighting systems used in the Dance Club and ensure that all equipment is used and maintained properly. Knight Spot Managers will also supervise/assist setups and strikes.
Geneseo Late Knight Employees
Responsible for performing Corner Pocket and Manager Assistant tasks during Friday and Saturday nights from 9:30pm-2am (sometimes special events will require earlier times.) Employees will assist with the set-up, supervision, and clean up of GLK events.
