Residence Life

Welcome to Residence Life.

3/29/13 The "lottery" system for current student housing selection has locked.  Students left out of priority numbering for housing will be placed into housing after participating students have selected their housing for 2013-14.  This includes students who have a sophomore residency requirement but did not pay a housing deposit.  If you are not released from the residency requirement, you will be billed for on-campus room and board, even if you sign an off-campus lease.  Please bring all concerns to the Residence Life office in Schrader 131.

Housing software--selecting your room or suite online

Some of you might remember choosing your housing in the College Union Ballroom -- waiting in your seat, then jumping excitedly as your number is announced, then waiting again in line before you finally picked your room or suite.  This process has changed for 2013-14!  We recently invested in a housing software program called Residence, designed by the Symplicity company.  With Symplicity Residence, you will be able to choose your housing as easily as you register for classes!  Details will be shared with you as the semester progresses.  Please continue to visit the Housing Selection 2013 web site for some basic information about the Symplicity Residence software:  http://go.geneseo.edu/housing.

What about new students starting at Geneseo in Fall 2013?

Please read this information for new students.

After you are admitted to Geneseo and you pay your deposit, the Admissions office will direct you to a website to sign up for housing and summer orientation, and to fill out your required medical forms.  Housing Applications for new students (we call them "Roommate Preference Forms") will be available beginning March 8, 2013 and are due no later than June 3.  We have exciting choices for new students, including new Physics, Math, and Biology Living-Learning Communities, opportunities to live in a "first-year student" residence hall, substance-free options, three College Houses (Dante House--all FY students, Writers House, and EcoHouse), housing for transfer students who want to live with other new transfer students, suites as well as corridor-style housing.  Take a look at the photo slide shows to start dreaming about where you'd like to live.

Because current students and new students follow different processes for housing selection, please do not submit a "current student" application.  If you wish to change a submitted application, call our office.  We can make small changes for you, or set the system for you to start over.
