What are your specific research interests?
Determining behavioral correlates to chronic striatal degeneration in a genetic mouse model of Huntington Disease.
What are your current active research projects?
Assessing paw reaching behavior and other motor behaviors in a mouse model of Huntington Disease.
Would you be willing to work with students as assistants with your research projects at this time?
I currently have students working in the lab on this project
If yes, how many?
I typically utilize 4 or 5 student researchers for my projects.
Do you prefer to choose your research assistants yourself or are you willing to be approached by students?
Either way is fine.
In what aspects of your research are student assistants involved (e.g. data collection, data analysis, hypothesis formation, literature reviews, writing)?
Students are involved in ALL aspects of the work conducted in my laboratory.
Are there any special comments/instructions you would like interested students to know about you, your projects, or what you are looking for?
I don't accept seniors. It takes a year or two to learn the ins and outs of the lab, and seniors don't have enough time. I like students with a high level of interest and enthusiasm for the research. Dependability is key. I can teach a student everything they need to know, but only if they are dependable and conscientious.
