Friday Knight Alumni Spotlight

Tell us about yourself. Where you live now, career, and/or family news. What have you been up to since you left Geneseo?
I actually got my MASTER’S degree (not Bachelor’s!) at Geneseo, in psychology. After that, I got a doctorate and then worked as a clinical psychologist, first in the Army and then for the federal government and in private practice. I've been married 40 years, have three kids and three grandkids (plus one on the way!). I enjoy helping Geneseo undergrads with career consultation through the Geneseo alumni consultation program. I've lived in Northern Virginia for over 30 years. I also enjoyed helping with the Geneseo’s Externship Program when it came to DC over the last several years.

What is the best thing about your current job?
I work for myself (finally!). My practice involves evaluating Veterans' mental disorders, which come from their days in the military. It's extremely challenging and rewarding work.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Hawaii

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
Warning: I ask a LOT of questions!

Do you collect anything?
No

What's your favorite family tradition?
Eating out at Cracker Barrel

What fashion or trend do you hope makes a comeback?
Doo-wop!

What's your favorite fast-food chain?
Wendy's

What's your favorite movie, and why?
I saw Mash 19 times, including once in Belgium and once in Israel. I've never been in a movie theater and seen hundreds of people crack up like they did with that movie.

What is your favorite Geneseo memory?
Sturges; I spent two years there, doing research, teaching, and enjoying friends. Plus, the gazebo was right outside.
