CAS to Hold Annual Food Show March 28

Campus Auxiliary Services (CAS) will hold its annual food show from 11 a.m. to  2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, in the MacVittie College Union ballroom. In keeping with some of the infrastructure projects on campus, this year’s show is themed “Building New Menus,” and will allow attendees to help assemble next year’s menus and food selections.

Over 20 vendors, half of them from New York and ranging from General Mills to the Abbey of the Genesee, will be on hand to showcase their products, provide information and answer any questions. This year, vendors will highlight allergen-friendly food items.

“This is the 15th year that we’ve held this food show,” said Mark Scott, executive director of CAS. “It’s one of the most important opportunities we have to solicit direct feedback from our customers. We work really hard to ensure that we offer dining options that meet a wide range of food preferences and needs, but those can change from year to year. The food show gives us a way to keep current with regional or national food trends and most importantly, gives our community a way to really influence what kind of products they would like us to serve for the next academic year.”

A special highlight of this year’s show will be a taste-test and vote on a Geneseo branded ice cream. Three options will be offered — the results of a recent CAS survey that was then turned over to Yummies Ice Cream in Warsaw, N.Y., for development. Food show attendees will weigh in on the top flavor and suggest a name.

Over 1,800 people are expected to attend this popular free event. Each attendee will have the opportunity to cast “votes” after sampling products by placing a sticky star on a ballot sheet. In addition to taste-tests, the food show will feature giveaways and prize drawings.
