Geneseo to Host Open House April 22

Geneseo campus at spring.

SUNY Geneseo will open its doors to prospective students and their families on Saturday, April 22, for a spring open house. Students and their families will have the opportunity to explore Geneseo and learn about the college’s exceptional academic, cultural and social opportunities.

“We are looking forward to welcoming over 100 prospective students and their families to our beautiful campus for this event,” said Meaghan Arena, vice president for enrollment management. “Even as we’re bringing in the Class of 2021, we are already working on recruiting the Class of 2022. And this event offers us a way to ensure that SUNY Geneseo’s name is at the very top of the list for many prospective students and their families as they move through the college search process. For juniors, it may be their very first stop on the college tour. And for admitted students, it may just clinch the deal for them. Either way, an open house allows us to show students who are looking for the very best in an academic experience, that SUNY Geneseo is the place for them.”

Open house activities will begin at 9 a.m. and prospective students and families will be able to select from a range of options to develop their own personalized schedule. On offer are tours of the Geneseo campus, including visits to academic buildings, MacVittie College Union and a residence hall.

During the academic ‘fair,’ prospective students and families will be able to meet some of Geneseo’s outstanding faculty and learn about the college’s excellent academic programs. And during the several group information sessions, current students, staff and administrators/faculty will provide an overview of Geneseo’s rich student and co-curricular life. Families will also have the option to wander over to Main Street to check out the Village of Geneseo’s historic downtown area.

“Students and families are looking for a comprehensive visit experience and an this kind of event fits that bill,” said Kimberley Harvey, director of admissions. “While we are open most Saturdays throughout the year, we believe an open house really showcases the vitality of our community. From exploring academic options with some of our faculty to getting a handle on programs like our GOLD leadership program, families get to experience the energy and spirit that clearly demonstrates that there is no place like Geneseo.”

Prospective students and families interested in attending the April 22 open house can pre-register online.
