‘Dancing Toward 50’ Concert to Feature Variety of Student Works Dec. 7-10

SUNY Geneseo’s Dance Ensemble will feature works by student choreographers during its “49.5 Live: Dancing Towards 50” performance Dec. 7-10 in the Alice Austin Theatre. The Thursday through Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinee begins at 2 o’clock. Tickets are $10 and available through the Student Association Ticket Office or online.

Allen Authors Textbook Examining the Psychology of Happiness

How do you define happiness? Jim Allen, associate professor of psychology at SUNY Geneseo, has taken a critical look at that question in his recently published textbook titled “The Psychology of Happiness in the Modern World: A Social Psychological Approach.” Published by Springer, the book places a socio-cultural lens on the field by emphasizing economic and other social/structural factors that influence human happiness.

Livingston CARES Service Trips Head to Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico

For well over 10 years, Geneseo students, faculty, staff and community residents have helped homeowners in the Biloxi area rebuild their homes and communities after Hurricane Katrina. Conducted through Livingston CARES, SUNY Geneseo’s non-profit humanitarian organization, these efforts serve as one of the College’s longest-running relief commitments.

GENseng, Geneseo’s Asian American Performance Ensemble, is joining the Department of Theatre and Dance in the revival of Cherylene Lee’s play, “Carry the Tiger to the Mountain,” Nov. 8-12 in Alice Austin Theatre. The Wednesday through Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinee begins at 2:00 p.m.
