The biology major provides students with the broad background necessary for various careers in the biological sciences and medicine. Students gain an understanding of the basic principles of genetics, ecology, evolution, cell biology, and anatomy and physiology.
American Studies
An interdisciplinary program, American studies offers a wide range of courses that develop the analytical, research, and communication skills necessary for success in a variety of fields. The major integrates materials, themes, and approaches from diverse areas of study, including history, literature, political science, sociology, communication, film and media, gender and sexuality, African American studies, and Native American studies.
Geography
Known as a “bridging” discipline that focuses on human-environment interaction, geography unites the natural and social sciences. Geneseo offers both natural science and social science courses, integrating them in areas such as sustainability, climate change, conservation, resource management, urban and regional planning, biogeography, and geographic information systems (GIS).
