On the occasion of the college's 150th anniversary, the Geneseo Village Board of Trustees and Livingston County Board of Supervisors issued proclamations resolving the importance of SUNY Geneseo to the community.

Both resolutions outlined key dates in the history of the College, including its establishment as the Wadsworth Normal and Training School on September 13, 1871, the first athletic competitions in 1896 of football and men’s track and field, and construction and academic milestones.

“Such a monumental milestone is cause for commemoration and celebration throughout the year with historical, educational, artistic, and joyful events,” the proclamations say.
