GENESEO, N.Y. – Wendi Kinney, associate dean for fraternal life and off-campus services, has been named an Outstanding Fraternity/Sorority Life Advisor by the national organization of Pi Kappa Phi, one of four advisors in the country to receive the honor.

The announcement came at the recent Pi Kapp College for chapter officers. Pi Kappa Phi is among 13 fraternities with chapters at Geneseo, having been chartered on campus in 2015.

Kinney is nationally recognized as an expert in Greek organization advisement. The Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors named Kinney as a 2015 recipient of one of the highest honors it bestows on an advisor, the Sue Kraft Fussell Distinguished Service Award.

“Wendi is an exemplar of Geneseo’s commitment to excellence, and a valued advisor to our Greek community,” said Bob Bonfiglio, vice president for student and campus life. “It is a pleasure to again see Wendi recognized for her commitment to our students and to her profession.”

Before joining the Geneseo staff in 2001, Kinney worked as the associate director of finance at Sigma Kappa sorority’s national headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind. She has also served as the Region I Director for the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors and the first president of the SUNY Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Association. She also has served as executive director of the Northeast Greek Leadership Association. Kinney was awarded the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 2013.

Geneseo’s Pi Kappa Phi fraternity has a mission of creating an uncommon and lifelong brotherhood that develops leaders and encourages service to others for the betterment of the community. They are philanthropically involved with The Ability Experience and locally with the Arc of Livingston-Wyoming County.
