GENESEO, N.Y. -- The Geneseo Chamber Singers and Spectrum Women’s Ensemble will perform a join concert in Doty Recital Hall March 6 at 3 p.m. entitled “Bella Musica Corale.” The concert is free and open to the public, but a large crowd is expected so early arrival is recommended.
The concert will feature selections by Spectrum highlighted by a Josef Rheinberger setting of the famous “How Lovely are Thy Messengers,” which Brahms set in his requiem, as well as a Karl Jenkins’ setting of the Ghandi text: “I offer you peace.”
The Chamber Singers, a coeducation choir, is preparing for its14th international concert tour in May and will be singing several pieces from the tour, including: Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia,” a new "Ave Maria" setting by American composer Morten Lauridsen, as well as several rousing spirituals -- as only Chamber Singers can sing them.
Spectrum is directed by Amy Cochrane, and the Chamber Singers are directed by Dr. Gerard Floriano.
