GENESEO, N.Y. –– Wendi Kinney, assistant dean of students for fraternal life and off-campus services, is the recipient of the 2015 Sue Kraft Fussell Distinguished Service Award from the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors.

The award recognizes individuals who have exhibited “outstanding achievements in one or more of the following areas: service to AFA; programming and/or service which reaches beyond the recipient's campus/organization; development and research activities; and/or service to the college and fraternity/sorority communities.”

Geneseo’s vice president for student and campus Life, Robert Bonfiglio, commended Kinney for her dedication to her work, noting that receiving the award celebrates her achievements and those of Geneseo.

“Wendi Kinney is known across our region and in the national Greek community as a highly knowledgeable, passionate, and effective Greek Life advisor,” said Bonfiglio. “It is quite fitting that her peers will be recognizing her with the Sue Kraft Fussell Distinguished Service Award, and gratifying to know that this recognition is consistent with the college's mission to be known as a nationally recognized center of excellence in undergraduate education.”

The award will be presented to Kinney at the AFA’s Closing Banquet event on Dec. 2 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Before joining the Geneseo staff in 2001, Kinney worked as the associate director of finance at Sigma Kappa sorority’s national headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind. She has also served as the Region I Director for the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors and the first president of the SUNY Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Association. She was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 2013.

In addition to her position at Geneseo, Kinney also works as the executive director of the Northeast Greek Leadership Association. She is an honorary member of National Residence Hall Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma, Golden Key and Order of Omega.
