SUNY Geneseo UPD Earns Second Reaccreditation

The SUNY Geneseo University Police Department (UPD) has successfully achieved reaccreditation through the New York State Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Program, marking its second reaccreditation and reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, efficiency, and public trust. The reaccreditation is valid from 2025 to 2030.

11/12/25: Burglary Update

The University Police Department is issuing an update to the November 11, 2025 timely warning regarding reported burglaries in Genesee and Wyoming Halls.

On 11/12/25, based on information obtained throughout the course of the investigation, University Police executed search warrants in a neighboring county, recovering property related to these burglaries. After the search warrants were executed, two individuals, not affiliated with SUNY Geneseo, were taken into custody and charged criminally in connection with these incidents. 

University Police would like to thank the community for their patience and their assistance in this matter.

11/11/25: Timely Warning—Burglary

The University Police Department has issued a Timely Warning regarding several burglaries reported over the past several days that appear to be related. 

A burglary is committed when someone enters a structure without permission to commit or with intent to commit a crime, such as theft. 

The University Police Department is currently investigating reports of theft from rooms in Genesee and Wyoming Halls. The thefts were reported to have occurred on November 2 and November 9.

Report suspicious behavior or criminal activity to UPD immediately. If you see something, say something!

Ensure doors are locked and ground-level windows are closed when you are not in your room or office. 

Do not prop exterior doors open. 

Do not open or hold open exterior residence hall doors for people you do not know.
