Laurie Fox ’90
Laurie Fox ’90 will become SUNY Geneseo’s interim chief information officer (CIO) and director for Computing and Information Technology (CIT) on August 27.
Fox has held technology leadership roles at the College for over three decades and is currently director of educational technology. She earned her bachelor’s degree in management science at Geneseo and holds an MBA in technology management from SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
“Laurie Fox has spent her career strengthening Geneseo’s technology environment, and her deep institutional knowledge positions her well to lead CIT during this transition,” says Provost Mary Toale. “I am confident in her ability to guide the division forward and to continue supporting the college’s academic and administrative priorities.”
Fox is a recognized leader in higher education technology and professional services, honored with multiple awards, including the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) SIGUCCS Penny Crane Award for Distinguished Service, the SUNY FACT2 Award for Excellence in Instructional Support, the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service, and recognition as an ACM Senior Member.
“Geneseo has been my professional home for more than 30 years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the College in this new capacity,” says Fox. “I look forward to working with our talented CIT team and campus partners to build on our strong foundation and ensure that technology continues to advance the college’s mission and support the success of our students, faculty, and staff.”
Fox succeeds Paul Jackson ‘87, who is retiring after 20 years of service to the College. Jackson joined Geneseo’s CIT division in 2006 as associate director of information systems. He served as interim CIO beginning in 2023 and was named CIO and director of CIT in 2024. Jackson brought steady leadership to the college’s technology infrastructure and services throughout his tenure.
