In the college's ongoing commitment to sustainability, Geneseo is now a signatory member of the University Global Compact, a global platform of universities and higher education organizations committed to working together and in partnership with the United Nations in support of the United Nations' Sustainability Goals.

"Geneseo is proud to be a University Global Compact member, providing us access to a valuable network of institutions similarly dedicated to sustainability," says President Denise A. Battles. "We look forward to working with our new partners to advance this key institutional priority."

Coalition members advance the goals locally and globally through education, research, and service missions, with a shared understanding that responsible consumption of resources, quality healthcare, and education for all and other issues underpinning the Sustainable Development Goals need multidisciplinary, cross-sectorial, collaborative approaches, new ways of thinking, new talent, and new ideas. For several years, Geneseo has been a signatory member of the United Nations Global Compact, joining companies, nongovernmental organizations and stakeholders from 170 countries in a U.N.-led effort to conserve resources and build opportunities, employment, economic development and other factors for quality of life.
