Life on land Climate action Responsible consumption Sustainable cities Sustainability is a commitment at Geneseo, among students, student organizations, and the the college, constructing new buildings that are nationally certified for being "green," and utilizing innovative energy processes, such as Bailey and Monroe halls.

In 2012, the college issued a statement about its mission to be increasingly sustainable for the environment and has followed up by creating the Office of Sustainability.

Dan DeZarn is director and William McDevitt is the campus sustainability officer. There are two student interns.

The office's first ongoing project is natural habitat reclamation to rid the campus of invasive plant species while introducing native plants in their place, and to create natural habitats in selected areas.  The office has already engaged more than 100 student volunteers in projects.
