The SUNY Geneseo Office of Government and Community Relations advocates for policies and funding that align with SUNY Geneseo’s strategic priorities, focusing on areas such as academic programming, infrastructure development, and community engagement, both at the federal and state levels.

Our office engages with federal agencies and representatives to secure support for campus initiatives. Recent efforts include:

Congressional Directed Spending (CDS) Requests:

  • Fall 2021: Emergency Backup Generators – $6.1 million requested.
  • Fall 2022: Honors College – $9 million requested.
  • Spring 2023: Technology and Security Infrastructure – $500,000 awarded.

At the state level, we collaborate with legislators and agencies to advance SUNY Geneseo’s mission. Key activities include:

  • SUNY Budget Advocacy: Supporting requests for collective bargaining costs, community college investments, and capital projects.
  • Empire State Development (ESD) and Office of Strategic Workforce Development (OSWD) Consolidated Funding Applications (CFA): Submitting proposals to secure funding for campus improvements and programs.
