Eddie is a cultural and political geographer who often contributes to the interdisciplinary field of migration studies. Most recently his research has focused on temporary labor migration, and seeks to explain the sort of multicultural exchange which takes place under restrictive migration policy contexts. Currently Eddie has two research projects which examine this topic, first is a qualitative project situated within Southeast Asian soccer playing communities enrolled in Taiwan’s guest-worker program, the second is an effort to map China’s hukou system under reform. In the past Eddie has also worked within soccer playing migrant communities in D.C. Eddie’s research has been published in Geopolitics, Transactions in Planning and Urban Research, and the Journal of Ethnicity and Migration Studies. He has spent much of his life in Taiwan and China, returning most recently as a Peace Corps Volunteer and Fulbright Scholar.
