Pre-Law Advisory Program
Interested in a law career? Geneseo also offers its own pre-law advisory program, which is separate from the UB 3+3 program.
Admission Requirements
- For high school students: Core GPA of 93 or higher.
- For current Geneseo students: GPA of 3.0 or higher and a meeting with the pre-law advisor to assess 3+3 program eligibility.
Law 3+3 with University at Buffalo
Why study pre-law at Geneseo?
The 3+3 BA/JD program with the University at Buffalo School of Law encourages students to accelerate their course of study by completing their Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor in just six years of full-time study, saving them one year’s worth of time and tuition.
Geneseo students can choose majors in American studies; economics; English; geography; history; international relations; mathematics; philosophy; philosophy, politics, and economics; political science; or sustainability studies. In the spring of their third year, students in the 3+3 program must apply to UB Law School for admission. If accepted, students transfer to UB. After completing the first-year law school curriculum, students transfer their credits to Geneseo to complete their bachelor’s degree.
General Application Process
- Apply to Geneseo with one of the following majors: American Studies, Economics, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Political Science/International Relations, Philosophy, Politics, Economics, Sustainability Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies
- Upon admission to Geneseo, identify in the Pre-Law Advisory Track and the 3+3 UB Law program
- Apply to UB Law School in third year at Geneseo
- UB Law School Application Process
- Take the LSAT or GRE no later than January of the third year
- Apply to UB Law School by February 1 of the third year
- UB Law School Application Requirements:
- Minimum 90 undergraduate credits completed, including:
- Minimum 3.5 GPA at the time of application
- LSAT/GRE score that meets or exceeds the median score of the previous year’s accepted UB Law students
