My husband continued his own familyβs Geneseo tradition by following in his older sister's footsteps. From there, the connection became stronger as we met one another and fell in love at Geneseo. We also both met lifelong family and friends through each of our Greek organizations (David-Phi Sigma Xi and Jen-Alpha Omega Pi). As we now look forward to having our child attend our beloved alma mater that brought us together as a couple, this is a full circle moment, indeed!"

I followed my brother's tenure there and wound up meeting Kristen. I played soccer for four years and Kristen was a part of Greek Life: we have held on to great friends over the past 30 years. Seeing those friendships and constantly hearing of all the good times, Caden chose Geneseo, and he also chose soccer. He is walking out with the same experience and friendships, making it an easy decision for his brother Landon, who will be playing basketball at Geneseo. Landon is looking for the same experience his family members have had."

Submitted by Sam Chaucer '29 (student): "I am the fourth generation to attend Geneseo. My mom and uncle attended Geneseo together and they are both school principals. We live near a lot of my mom's and uncle's friends who also attended Geneseo with them (ex. my middle school guidance counselor swam with my uncle at Geneseo). My roommate is also a Geneseo legacy student, and his parents attended with my mom and uncle and his dad swam on the swim team with my uncle! Although education is not the major I am pursuing, I grew up surrounded by people who were positive role models who graduated from Geneseo and spoke highly of the education they received there. I am excited to start my own journey at Geneseo!"

Steve and I met through Greek life at Geneseo and eventually married. Geneseo prepared us for careers that we've maintained with the same employers for almost 30 years. Even better, we have maintained close friendships with so many of our Geneseo friends. In 2019, we had the opportunity to travel with our family to California for two weeks, driving up and down the state, visiting four of our Geneseo friends along the way. Our family has vacationed at the Jersey shore with other Geneseo friends for many years. We love that our kids are making memories with the kids of our Geneseo friends. They are amazed by these longstanding friendships and recognize how unique this is -- we just chalk it up to something in the water at Geneseo. Jane picked up on that special Geneseo vibe her first time visiting the campus. She is so excited to start this chapter where she hopes to also meet her "friends for life"."

Submitted by Noelle Granger '00 (mother): "My son, Gavin was exploring several different college options, and I was more than thrilled when he told me that Geneseo was on his list for one of his top schools to visit. Wanting him to pave his own way, I avoided pushing my love for Geneseo on him and wanted to allow him to make the decision for himself. When we visited Geneseo his appreciation of the campus and the town was very evident. I was so happy that what had drawn me to the Geneseo community so many years ago were amongst his top reasons for wanting to attend. Iβm very excited for him to attend and find a βhomeβ in the Geneseo community that I knew and loved."

It is such an honor that our son was recruited for the Geneseo Menβs Soccer team and will be stepping foot on campus exactly 25 years after his father and I graduated. Geneseo is where our life began. It holds such a special place in our hearts. We canβt wait for our son to enjoy everything Geneseo has to offer and make special memories of his own to treasure forever."

Submitted by Paige Moscicki '29 (student): "Knowing that my dad went to Geneseo and continues to work there even now played a large part in my decision to go here. I spent a lot of time here throughout my childhood, and know the kind of community my dad built by doing the same throughout his adult life. He also participated in DIII track, which convinced me as well to go down that path, albeit a different sport, and I am happy that he helped me make this choice."

Attending Geneseo has become a family tradition on my dad's side of the family, and it has been extra special getting encouragement from my aunt, uncle and grandma! It was a lot of fun looking at my grandma's 1968 yearbook! To top it off, I'm staying in the same dorm that she did in her freshman year (Jones Hall)."

Aunt: Kelly Abbott '02Submitted by Keira VanDerBeck '29 (student): "Growing up I was a bit of a rebellious kid. I never wanted to go to Geneseo because so many people in my family had gone there. But after going on a tour I fell in love with the campus, it felt warm and cozy. The following year I applied to Geneseo and a handful of other SUNYs. As I started figuring out where I wanted to spend the next four years of my life Geneseo stood out. I went to a handful of events on campus, and I was always impressed by the care and compassion I was treated with even as a prospective student. I'm super excited to start college. It feels really special to be going to the same college as so many people I love and admire. There are little moments of magic that I couldn't get going anywhere else. Like when I went to campus with my mom and she was able to show me paintings she had been commissioned to paint in her senior year. Or going through the Geneseo subreddit with my uncle and him telling me all the things that had changed since he had gone to college. I've always been close with my family and I'm glad that I have another thing I can relate to them with."
