Geneseo is a public liberal arts college and is the most selective among the SUNY comprehensive colleges. A distinguished faculty characterized by National and SUNY teaching awards instructs students with outstanding high school records resulting in a 79.9% college graduation rate. Kiplinger ranked Geneseo No. 96rd best value among the nation's public colleges and universities. In the U.S. News College Rankings, Geneseo ranked 14th on the regional rankings for universities in the northern region, 3rd in the "Top Public Schools" category, and 2nd on the "Best Undergraduate Teaching Universities" in its 2019 Best Colleges Guidebook.
