SUNY Geneseo’s divisions of Finance and Administration and Academic Affairs have named Joanna Santos-Smith project director for revenue generation, a new position created to develop structures and processes to support new and/or expanded programming.

A graduate of Geneseo, Santos-Smith comes to the College from SUNY Genesee Community College where she managed the GCC Wyoming County Campus Centers. Prior to that, she was a Transitional Opportunity Program counselor at Geneseo, a position she held after graduating from her undergraduate degree program.

Santos-Smith earned her Doctor of Education degree in educational administration with a specialization in higher education from the University of Rochester. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a social studies adolescent education certification, as well as a Master of Science degree in B–12 reading and literacy, both from SUNY Geneseo.

“I’m excited to work with Joanna as we collaborate with campus colleges on new initiatives and programs,” says Joseph Cope, interim provost and vice president of academic affairs. “Her familiarity with working with diverse stakeholders in a higher education context will be instrumental in helping us reach our strategic goals.”

“I’m pleased Joanna is returning to her alma mater,” says Julie Buehler, vice president for finance and administration. “She is a proven leader with well-developed organizational and change management skills, as well as the capacity to be agile and work with urgency.”
