The faculty and staff in the Ella Cline Shear School of Education at SUNY Geneseo welcome you to browse through our NCATE site. This site was created in preparation for our accreditation visit by the Board of Examiners from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The examiners will be visiting our campus from September 16 – 18, 2012. NCATE is a coalition of more than thirty professional educational organizations with a dual mission of accountability and improvement in teacher preparation.
The accreditation process provides the opportunity for our School of Education to engage in serious self-study and reflection. In this, our second NCATE accreditation cycle, the focus is on the efforts being made by our unit to continuously improve our program, the performance of our teacher candidates, and the effect they have on the students they teach. The Geneseo faculty and staff have worked intensely to gather the evidence for our efforts in preparing state-of-the-art initially certified teachers. We welcome your assessment of our work with our teacher candidates, and their performances both in the classrooms on campus and in the schools in western New York State.
The School of Education at SUNY Geneseo has a long and rich history of preparing teachers who are knowledgeable, skilled in their instructional practices, passionate about their work, and motivated to provide leadership within their profession. We believe you will agree that the current Geneseo faculty and staff have continued that record of excellence as evidenced by our candidates’ accomplishments.
