Dr. Laura Heller began her professional career as an Army lawyer, serving as a civilian attorney as well as in uniform (both active duty and in the reserve component) for more than 16 years. To facilitate a transition from the courtroom to the classroom, Dr. Heller earned a Master of Arts in Diplomacy from Norwich University in 2014, and a Doctor of Law & Policy from Northeastern University in 2017. Her doctoral thesis, entitled “Actions Speak Louder than Words: Policy Legitimation and the National Security Strategy,” explores the intersection of public policy and national security. Originally hailing from California, Dr. Heller now lives in Pittsford with her partner, Victoria.
