Why ACE?

SUNY’s Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) helps students earn their bachelor’s degree in two years (transfer) or four years (first-years) with intensive support, including academic advising, career counseling, and financial assistance for tuition, textbooks, and transportation.

Attendance Award

$550 per year (after financial aid applied) to help cover non-tuition expenses.

Additional Support

Textbook Assistance ($150 per semester) and monthly stipends for personal expenses ($50 per month, up to $200 per semester).

Additional Information:

In order to qualify for the ACE program for Spring/Fall 2026, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an incoming TRANSFER student with an earned associate degree or 60 accepted transfer credits and at least a 2.0 GPAOR
  • Be an incoming FIRST-YEAR student with 21 credits or less (excluding high school credits).
  • Meet Geneseo’s undergraduate Admissions requirements APPLY NOW
  • Be eligible for in-state tuition
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application. Receive at least $1 of federal Pell or NYS grant aid (TAP or Excelsior).
    • Note: Students from mixed status families are now eligible to apply for NYS financial aid without completing the FAFSA at https://www.hesc.ny.gov/altpath. Students may also reach out to ASAP|ACE staff to learn more about their options to apply for NYS aid.
  • ACE students cannot participate in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).
  • Enrolled full-time

As an ACE student we will expect you to do the following on your pathway to a degree:

  • Attend required meetings with your ACE academic advisor;
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application each year, and accept any federal and state grant aid awarded;
  • Commit to graduating within four years (freshmen) or two years (transfer) and adhere to course schedules and degree maps approved by your advisors;
  • Maintain full-time status by enrolling in at least 15 credits per semester;
  • Enroll in summer or winter courses if 30 credits are not earned by the end of each academic year;
  • Attend ACE workshops or activities of your choice across each semester as directed by your ACE Advisor;
  • Attend career development opportunities each academic year;
  • Respond promptly to all communications sent out by ACE staff.
