Upcoming Password Change

Infographic titled "How Secure is Your Password?" listing complexity requirements: at least 16 characters, mixed case, numbers, special characters, and not matching the previous 10 passwords. A graphic shows "New Complex Password" security as significantly higher than "Old Password" security.

As part of CIT’s ongoing efforts to protect Geneseo’s systems and information, we are reviewing account passwords to ensure they meet current security standards.

  • On or around April 9, CIT will send an email to employees whose passwords were identified as not meeting updated password strength guidelines and who have not recently changed their password.
  • If you receive this message from jackson@geneseo.edu, it is a legitimate communication from CIT.
  • Recipients will be asked to update their password by June 15.

As always, CIT will never ask you to share your password by email or Google Forms.

If you’re unsure whether a message is legitimate, you can check the Phish Bowl for recent phishing and real college emails, or Ask CIT.
