Christine Green

Christine N. Green, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Education in Reading and Literacy, and an ISTE Certified Educator at SUNY Geneseo. Her teaching and scholarship focus on literacy education, digital literacies and technology integration, literacy assessment and instruction, and the preparation and professional learning of educators.

Dr. Green’s research examines how educators make instructional decisions within changing literacy and technology contexts, with particular attention to meaningful technology integration, digital and multimodal texts, and the development of educator capacity. Her work explores how teachers and teacher candidates learn to make purposeful, context-responsive decisions that connect technology, pedagogy, literacy learning, and the needs of individual learners.

Prior to entering higher education, Dr. Green spent 16 years as an elementary educator, special education teacher, and literacy specialist. Her work in teacher education is grounded in this classroom experience and emphasizes connections among research, professional learning, and educational practice.

Teaching

Dr. Green teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy education, including courses focused on foundational literacy, literacy in the content areas, digital literacies, children’s literature, and assessment and diagnosis in reading and literacy. She also works with graduate students preparing for professional roles as literacy specialists.
