Whether you’re interested in ancient civilizations, modern politics, social movements, or global conflict, our flexible and rigorous curriculum offers the tools to investigate the human experience across time and place.
Majors and Minors
- History Major (BA)
Develop a strong foundation in historical analysis, critical thinking, and communication through diverse course offerings that span world regions and eras. Capstone research and writing projects allow you to dive deep into a topic you care about. - History Minor
Complement any major with analytical and writing skills that are highly valued in law, public service, education, business, and more. - Adolescence Education–Social Studies (7–12)
Prepare to teach history and social studies at the secondary level through a dual-degree pathway in partnership with Geneseo’s School of Education. - History Master's (MA)
Designed for aspiring social studies teachers as well as professionals pursuing careers in government, journalism, public history, academia, and other fields that demand strong research, writing, and analytical skills, this program offers advanced study in historical methods, content expertise, and critical thinking. It also supports New York State’s requirements for professional certification in teaching.
