Kathryn Hochstetler, a professor of international development at the London School of Economics and Political Science, will deliver this year’s Roemer Lecture on World Affairs. Chemist Stephen Leone to Deliver Dreyfus Lecture “X-ray Eyes”

Stephen Leone, a professor of chemistry and physics at Berkeley, will give the Jean Dreyfus Lecture at 7–8 p.m., Tuesday, March 12 in Newton 202. In his lecture, “X-ray Eyes,” Leone will discuss the broad realm of X-rays, from their discovery and uses in medicine, to science fiction and new experiments in the chemistry lab. A reception in Newton will immediately precede the event. Leone’s talk is free and open to the public.

Alumna to Share The Tales Teeth Tell

SUNY Geneseo is hosting biological anthropologist Tanya M. Smith ‘97, Ph.D., for a lecture based on her recent book, The Tales Teeth Tell. Smith’s talk takes place at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 2 in Newton 204. Smith’s talk will be followed by a book signing. Copies of her book will be available for sale. Scholar-Activist Childs to Deliver Diversity Summit Keynote

Dennis Childs, associate professor of African American literature at UC San Diego, will deliver the Diversity Summit’s keynote address. Childs’ talk, “Creating a Social Justice Centered Approach to Diversity,” will be held in the MacVittie College Union Ballroom at 2:30–3:45 p.m., Friday, March 1. A Q&A session with Childs will follow the keynote. The event is free and open to the public.
