JFEW Scholar Featured in SinoVision 'Not Your Average Summer School' Report

GENESEO, N. Y. -- SUNY Geneseo senior Maydelis Minaya, one of five Geneseo students with a Jewish Foundation for Education of Women (JFEW) scholarship, is among those featured on a SinoVision English television report titled “Not Your Average Summer School.”

Minaya, from New York City, was touring the Chinese Consulate in New York as part of the internship component of her scholarship program when the U.S.-based Chinese network was preparing the report.

Maydelis and her classmates all received two-year JFEW-SUNY International Relations and Global Affairs Program scholarships last fall to prepare them for careers in international relations and global affairs and to hone their skills through mentoring and networking opportunities.

JFEW internships are at New York-based global organizations in the summer between the student’s junior and senior year. Maydelis is interning at GBCHealth, a hub for business engagement on the world’s most pressing global health issues.

Other Geneseo JFEW scholars are seniors Rachel Colomban from Oakdale, N.Y.; Emily Mathews from New York City; Ariana Lippi from Brewster, N.Y.; and Nicola Mohan from Richmond Hill, N.Y.
