GENESEO, N.Y.—Seven teams from Geneseo will move on to the statewide New York Business Plan Competition in Albany on April 29, following the Finger Lakes regional competition that took place at SUNY Geneseo on April 13. The winning teams will go on to compete against groups from institutions across the state, vying for more than $500,000 in prizes.

Established in 2010, the New York Business Plan Competition (NYBPC) is a venture creation and innovation competition intended to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship throughout institutes of higher education in New York State. The competition encourages New York colleges and universities to submit business plans intended to address an unmet need.

The Geneseo finalists are:

  • HyperDry (solar-thermal clothes dryers)
  • Phoenix Pioneer Products (fire start log generator for upcycling paper waste)
  • BallHawk (smart golf ball finder)
  • Italian Table (subscription-based food of the month club)
  • Floss Fever (hot sauce)
  • FiveNorth (fair trade chocolates)
  • Umbellata (lycopene-rich autumn berry products)

Congratulations to the winners, and to all who made it to the semi-final round of this prestigious competition.
