As SUNY Geneseo continues to implement the College’s strategic plan, faculty and staff will soon have an opportunity to directly contribute to key objectives under the Access and Success focus area.

On April 2, faculty and staff will be invited to participate in the Geneseo Employee Opinion Survey, which will measure concepts such as workplace satisfaction and campus culture.

“Results from this survey can help us accomplish important goals in our strategic plan,” said President Denise A. Battles. “For example, diversity, equity and inclusion are of particular importance as we continue to work on ensuring that our campus remains a welcoming and supportive community. Faculty and staff feedback will help us understand what is important to them, where we need to improve, and where they would like to see us go as a community. Through the strategic plan, the College has made a commitment to effect change and this survey is an essential part of that process.”

Conducted through Geneseo’s Office of Institutional Research and the Department of Human Resources, the survey will be facilitated by the Chronicle of Higher Education through their “Great colleges to work for” initiative, in collaboration with ModernThink LLC, an independent management consulting firm focusing on workplace quality in higher education.

Faculty and staff will receive an invitation from ModernThink LLC on Monday, April 2, which will include a link to the web-based survey. Individuals who may not be able to easily access their email accounts will be able to stop by a computer lab that will be set up in Milne 104 on Wednesday, April 4, from 8 to 9 a.m.; 4:40 to 5:30 p.m.; and 11 p.m. to midnight; on Friday, April 6 from 8 to 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. to midnight; and again on Monday, April 9 from 8 to 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. to midnight. The deadline to respond to the survey is April 13.

The Geneseo Employee Opinion Survey is voluntary and completely confidential. The College will not be able to trace results back to individuals, and only aggregate findings will be used for organizational improvements.

“We are really hoping that faculty and staff to take this opportunity to make their voices heard,” said Stacey Robertson, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “The opinion survey will provide important feedback on a range of key objectives in our strategic plan, particularly those associated with the recruitment of diverse faculty and staff, and the progress made in implementing our strategic diversity plan. A high response rate will help us ensure an accurate representation of our community and allow us to better identify and prioritize areas of action to address concerns.”

At the close of the survey, the College will receive reports that summarize the organizational competencies and relationships that most directly impact and influence campus culture.

Participants with questions about the survey can contact any member of the Strategic Planning Group’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion workgroup, which includes:

  • Julie Briggs, assistant vice president for human resources
  • Heather Lobban-Viravong, senior associate to the president
