New Student Orientation Schedule of Events

Orientation at SUNY Geneseo helps transition first-year, international and transfer students to the next steps of their academic and life journeys. It provides opportunities for students to acclimate to campus, make connections, foster a sense of pride in Geneseo, and establish a foundation for academic success. The aim of Orientation is to lay the groundwork for a happy and productive college experience.

All new students are expected to attend the On-Campus New Student Orientation programs. See below for specific dates.

Important Dates

  • December 5: Welcome Letter from the Department of Student Life
  • January 10: Orientation Leaders begin virtual engagement with new students
  • January 16 & 17: New International Student Arrival 
  • January 18: New International Student Orientation (ISSS)
  • January 19: New Student Move-In | 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
  • January 19: On-Campus New Student Orientation Program (All new students) | 11:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m.

We are excited to announce the Orientation Schedule is now available! The schedule is created with you in mind and includes a variety of events and activities, such as:

  • Activities to help you familiarize yourself with campus
  • Orientation groups to connect you with your peers
  • Programs to introduce you to campus offices and resources
  • Opportunities to hear from academic departments and meet faculty 
  • Events to prepare you for your first day of classes

Designed to assist first year and transfer students in their transition, hear from the Office of Academic Planning and Advisement as they offer tips and tricks for your academic success. Please attend the session corresponding with your status.

Let's Talk About Title IX

Students will participate in an interactive and engaging format to learn about community responsibility, healthy behaviors, and safe partying. Students will receive information on important policies, resources and support that pertain to Title IX and the student conduct process.
