Info for Prospective Students

Dear Prospective Physics Student:

Welcome to the Geneseo Department of Physics and Astronomy!  We are glad you are considering majoring in physics at Geneseo.  The three main things you should know about our department are:

  1. We are one of the largest physics departments at a primarily undergraduate institution in the nation.
  2. Our program is rigorous while providing enough flexibility to prepare students for a wide range of careers in science and technology-related fields.
  3. Our department is welcoming and supportive for all students interested in studying physics.

Every Friday afternoon we offer tours of the department for prospective students and their families.  These tours allow you to meet with a physics faculty member, and also visit our teaching spaces, introductory and advanced labs, plus research spaces including our particle accelerator and telescope observatory.

Schedule a tour here and click on a Friday.

There you will be able to sign up for a college tour and also a physics-specific tour on a Friday during the semester.

To stay up to date on the latest in our department be sure to follow us on Twitter at @GeneseoPhysics.
