The SUNY Geneseo Model United Nations Club joined universities from across the region on Saturday, September 26 for the second annual Model European Union Simulation at the University at Buffalo. This full-day Model EU experience was designed to strengthen students’ policy skills and deepen familiarity with European Union decision‑making.
Students representing Geneseo included Alyssa Dawson, Devyn Balfe, Alex Rosno, Luciano Colarte, Alexander Healy, Elena Ramirez-Rendon, Eleni Vlahos, Kylie Gregory, Ryan Seubert, Allison Tuifel, and Jessica Ramirez‑Rendon. Their participation spanned multiple committees and policy areas, giving both seasoned delegates and newcomers a chance to practice negotiation, drafting, and coalition‑building in a supportive environment.

One highlight of the day came when Alexander Healy earned Best Delegate for his committee—an achievement that reflects both his preparation and the club’s growing strength in European Union simulations. Students described the event as “a great learning experience” and “a lot of fun,” noting that the smaller, practice‑focused format allowed them to take risks, ask questions, and refine their understanding of EU institutions before participating in larger Model EU and Model UN conferences.
Geneseo’s Model UN Club is generously supported by the Robert Goeckel and Rose Alent Fund, the Department of Political Science Endowment, and financial contributions from many department alumni.
