Orientation is an ongoing process that starts with the Summer Orientation Program. Undergraduate Orientation Advisors and College faculty and staff guide students through a one-day transfer program and a two-day first-year program, offering an introduction to college life, services, and the curriculum. Through small group discussions with peer advisors and academic advisement with faculty, new students gain confidence and knowledge about Geneseo while meeting other new students. Informative programs for families are available concurrent with each session. Orientation continues in the fall with the Week of Welcome (WOW), an interactive program for all new students that combines introductions to life on campus, programming on hate crimes, assault, and alcohol awareness, social gatherings, entertainment, and opportunities to volunteer in the community. The Office of First Year Programs extends Orientation with programs and activities throughout the year.
