Accounting Major

Why study accounting at Geneseo?

Geneseo’s accounting major provides outstanding preparation for careers in professional and corporate accounting as well as many other areas in business and finance. It offers a deep foundation in financial, managerial, and taxation accounting in addition to electives in governmental NFP accounting and other cognate disciplines.

Accounting is the comprehensive business discipline, exposing students to issues and practices in everything from operations, marketing, and HR to financing and capital budgeting.

The accounting faculty encourage students to explore all aspects of accounting and provide students with a wealth of practical, career-oriented guidance in addition to academic advising. Many accounting students double-major or add minors, with popular areas of study including finance, international relations, languages, and history.
