In the Hoven Lab, we explore questions focused on forest community ecology and conservation. Our current area of interest are plant community responses to emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis) (EAB) caused-ash mortality in western New York wetlands. Research on the impacts of EAB include both plant community surveys as well as dendrochronological investigations. Students also model SUNY Geneseo campus tree contributions to ecosystem services.

Dr. Brian Hoven has been with the Geneseo faculty since 2023
