Archaeology Microcredential

The Department of Anthropology is excited to offer a new Integrative Curricular Microcredential in Archaeology.  This microcredential provides students with a methodological and theoretical background in the sub-discipline of archaeology, capped off by a transformational and reflective field or laboratory experience. Students who qualify for the microcredential should contact the program coordinator, Dr. Pacheco (pacheco@geneseo.edu), so that it can be placed on your permanent transcript.

Total Credits Required to Complete Microcredential in Archaeology:  9 credits

Basic Requirement: ANTH 110 Introduction to Archaeology (3 credits)

Choose one Ancient Civilizations course (3 credits): 

  • ANTH 207 Ancient Civilizations of North America, or
  • ANTH 215 Ancient Civilizations of the Old World, or
  • ANTH 235 Ancient Civilizations of Mesoamerica and the Andes 

Choose one Transformational Learning course (3 credits):

  • ANTH 320 Archaeology Field School, or
  • ANTH 383 Archaeological Method and Theory, or
  • ANTH 395* Internship in Anthropology, or
  • NTH 399* Directed Study and Research           

* Directed study or internship experiences, such as lab projects or museum experiences, must be supervised or approved by archaeology faculty members or the chair of the department.
