Next Steps for Admitted International Students

Students posing with Victor E. Knight.

Congratulations on your admission to SUNY Geneseo!

Here is your checklist of next steps:

1. Accept your admission and scholarship offers

Send an email to isss@geneseo.edu formally accepting our offers of admission and scholarship (if applicable).

2. Submit a $500 USD tuition deposit

Submitting your deposit will secure your place in the incoming class, and will be applied directly to your tuition, housing, and health insurance costs. We recommend paying the deposit through one of our partners, Flywire or PayMyTuition

Make sure to indicate that the payment type is "Admission Deposit."

Flywire and PayMyTuition can be used in the future to pay your tuition and fees.

Note: Travel policies and the availability of visa appointments are currently still somewhat unpredictable. In the event that you are unable to obtain your visa in time, your deposit will be refundable or transferable to a future semester.

3. Submit your sponsorship form, bank statement, and a photocopy of your passport I.D. page

We need these documents to issue your Form I-20, a required document to apply for your student visa and to enter the United States.

Download the Sponsorship Form

Once filled out, return the form, bank statement, and photocopy of your passport I.D. to isss@geneseo.edu.

4. Claim your myGeneseo account

After paying your deposit, you will receive an email from Geneseo Computing & Information Technology (CIT) with instructions to claim your myGeneseo account. Follow the steps to affirm the Student Code of Conduct and gain access to your Geneseo email account.

Be sure to check your Geneseo email frequently! Now that you’re an enrolled Geneseo student, important information will only be sent to your Geneseo email account.

5. Apply for your visa

Review our information on how to apply for your visa

Your I-20 will be sent once we receive your deposit, financial sponsorship form, bank statement, and passport copy.

Note: Some US embassies and consulates are still posting longer than normal wait times. We recommend using the U.S. Embassy website to find your local embassy and to confirm operating status and current wait times.

Here are some helpful tips on applying for your student visa:

6. Apply for housing

Complete a housing application online. You can find more information about housing rates and the housing application on the Residence Life website. Your $500 deposit that you paid includes your housing deposit.

7. Send official final transcripts

Send all official final transcripts from your high school or university to us either by mail or email.

By mail:

SUNY Geneseo Office of Admissions
1 College Circle
Geneseo, NY 14454
United States

By email:

Send to isss@geneseo.edu.

If you have attended high school or university in the United States, your final official transcript should be sent directly to Geneseo by your previous school. If you aren't sure what you need to send, double check your letter of admission.

8. Complete health and immunization requirements before arrival

The Department of Student Health and Counseling requires all new students to submit physical health and immunization records online before arriving to campus. Please email evansL@geneseo.edu with any questions about these requirements or forms.
