Next Steps for Admitted International Students
Congratulations on your admission to SUNY Geneseo!
So, what's next...?
1. Accept Admission and Scholarship Offers
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org formally accepting our offers of admission and scholarship (if applicable).
2. Submit $500 USD Tuition Deposit
Submitting your deposit will secure your place in the incoming class, and will be applied directly to your tuition, housing, and health insurance costs. Please pay online by credit card or bank transfer through our partner, Flywire.com.
Make sure to indicate that the payment type is "Admission Deposit." By creating a Flywire.com account, you will be able to use this same service to pay your tuition later on.
3. Submit Sponsorship Form, Bank Statement, and Photocopy of Passport I.D. Page
We need these documents to issue your Form I-20, a required document to apply for your student visa and to enter the United States.
4. Claim your myGeneseo account
After paying your deposit, you will receive an email with instructions to claim your myGeneseo account. Follow the steps to affirm the Student Code of Conduct and gain access to your Geneseo email account.
Be sure to check your Geneseo email frequently! Important information will only be sent to your Geneseo email account starting very soon.
Your I-20 will be sent once we receive your deposit, financial sponsorship form, bank statement, and passport copy.
We recommend using https://www.usembassy.gov/ to find your local embassy and to confirm operating status.
For some helpful tips on applying for your student visa:
6. Apply for Housing
Complete a Housing Application online through Symplicity. You can find more information about housing rates and the housing application on the Residence Life website. The $500 deposit that you already paid includes your housing deposit. The housing application form is due June 15, so be sure to submit your form ASAP!
7. Send Official Final Transcripts/Records and Exam Score Reports
Be sure to send all final, original transcripts to the ISSS Office:
International Student and Scholar Services
1 College Circle
Geneseo, NY 14454
If you have attended high school or university in the United States, your final official transcript should be sent directly to Geneseo by your previous school. If you aren't sure what to send, double check your Admission Letter!
8. Complete Health and Immunization Requirements Before Arrival
The Department of Student Health and Counseling requires all new students to submit physical health and immunization records online before arriving to campus. Please email nurse Laura Evans and Health@geneseo.edu with any questions about these requirements or forms.
Your immunization records and housing forms must be completed by August 8!
9. Get Excited About International Student Orientation!
For more information, please visit our Orientation page.
10. Inform the ISSS Office of your Travel Plans
You will receive a Travel & Arrival Survey from email@example.com. Please be sure to complete the survey so that we can arrange your Airport Pickup and Move In. The surveys are due by August 1st for fall and December 1st for spring.
