The Minor in Musical Theatre

Don't have time for another major?  The musical theatre minor is intended to develop skills and provide backgrounds in music, dance, and theatre; required each semester is participation in musical theatre productions in the areas of performance, costumes, lighting, sound, scenic, props, dramaturgy, stage management, and more. The minor in Musical Theatre requires an audition. Audition information may be found here

MUSC 182: Musicianship for Musical Theatre I (3 credits)

MUSC 222: Stage Musicals (3 credits)

MUSC 280: Musical Theatre Performance I (3 credits)

THEA 221: Acting I (3 credits)

THEA 224: Acting Techniques (2 credits)

THEA 320: Acting II (3 credits)

Voice requirement, chosen from the following (4 credits)

  • MUSC 141, 241, 341 Voice; OR
  • MUSC 151, 251, 351 Voice for the Performance Option

Dance requirement: chosen from the following, with at least 2 credits each (4 credits)

  • At the 200 or 300 level: MUSC 201; DANC 101-104; 201-204; 301-303
